Dear TCL Readers:
First, let me wish all of you a very happy and healthy holiday season. Or a very long nap. Or whatever allows you to rest and relax after a pretty tough year, with more weirdness to come in 2024.
Also, my hope is that by the time I send another newsletter, I’ll be on another platform. Yes, I too am leaving Substack. Their response to last week’s collective letter, which I joined in, wasn’t a surprise, but was a real disappointment nonetheless. Where’s next? Still exploring options. Should I have left long ago? Of course, but one always hopes for better. Migration to a new platform, I hope, won’t be too difficult (especially for the paying subscribers, my eternal thank-yous.) And we all deserve the rest of the year off. So please be patient, and stay tuned.
Because it turns out I genuinely love doing this newsletter. And though I have a book due next fall, and other projects on the horizon — not to mention the column — it’s been great to rediscover the possibilities of what a newsletter can do, and build on that.
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Until next time, I remain,
The Crime Lady
Oy I had no idea about this Substack drama. I would have discussed it with you on the Theater’s couch yesterday. I read something useful from Ben Dreyfuss last night about it. We’ll discuss.
It's so aggravating that you have to do this at all, but thanks for dealing with said aggravation.
