I so agree with what you point out in this post. I'm fascinated by Judy Holliday. My mother was a huge fan and introduced me to her as a kid. Also, when I worked at the Dramatists Guild in the early 1980s, I got to meet Comden and Green, which was so cool. But I knew nothing about The Reviewers until this post. Now I want to know more! (Sidebar: the DG board back then was incredible. Stacked with legends.)

I'm that weirdo who occasionally makes a pilgrimage to her childhood home in Sunnyside, so of course I'd subscribe just for this.

Thank you so much!

Hi Sarah, I just stumbled upon your post after watching Maestro for the 2nd time last night. Like you, I’m a big Judy Holliday fan. However, the woman in the scene with Matt Bomer’s is clearly meant to be Ellen Adler. First of all, we meet her in the opening scene at Claudio Arrau’s house— Sarah Silverman’s Shirley introduces her as Ellen. Secondly, the Matt Bomer scene in question must occur in at least the mid to late 50s. Lenny has just received a drawing from a young Jamie (who was born in 1953, so maybe she’s 3 or 4 in this scene). And Lenny references the fact that he’s already a known TV personality (the Young People’s Concerts didn’t air until 1958), so this is clearly David and Ellen with their first daughter, Sara.
